Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 16) — Six Filipino businesses made it to an international business magazine's list of the largest companies in the world.

Forbes Magazine's Global 2000https://www.forbes.com/global2000/#7b2d8197335d list ranks the world's largest public companies as a "reflection of the state of the global economy today."

BDO Unibank ranked 1,018th in the list, the highest among all the companies from the Philippines.

SM Investments, which Forbes categorized under the Department Stores industry, was next at 1,092nd.

Top Frontier Investment Holdings, Inc., the largest shareholder in diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corporation, followed closely at 1,096th.

Ayala Corporation ranked 1,236th with its plethora of businesses under its belt: including real estate, financial services, telecommunications, water utilities and electricity.

Another bank made it to the list, Metropolitan Bank and Trust ranked 1,639th.

Rounding up the six companies is Gokongwei-led JG Summit Holdings at 1,720th.

The Chinese government-owned Industrial and Commercial Bank of China remains at the top in the Forbes Global 2000 list for the seventh consecutive year.

The U.S. had the most businesses in the list, with 575 companies, followed by China and Hong Kong with 309 and Japan with 223.
