Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 13) — Three Filipinos join the major cast of the "Miss Saigon" U.K. tour opening in July.

According to the cast list released by Broadway World, actress Joreen Bautista will be alternating with Sooha Kim for the lead role Kim.

Meanwhile, theater actor Red Concepcion will play the role of the Engineer, the hustler and owner of a hostel in 1975 Saigon, and singer Gerald Santos will take on the role of Thuy, Kim's cousin and betrothed.

The three Filipino cast members broke the news on their social media accounts, expressing gratefulness and excitement over the project.

Broadway icon Lea Salonga, who played the original Kim in the 1989 West End and 1991 Broadway productions of "Miss Saigon," also congratulated the show's Filipino cast.

Two more Filipinos, Christian Rey Marbella and Ela Lisondra, will be joining the ensemble of the U.K. touring cast.

Taking on the role of Kim's American lover Chris is Ashley Gilmour, while Zoë Doano will play Chris's wife Ellen.

"Miss Saigon" will run from July 1 to 22 at the Curve Theatre in Leicester, England.

The 2014 West End Revival and 2017 Broadway Revival were not short of Filipinos either, with Eva Noblezeda, Jon Jon Briones and Rachelle Ann Go headlining the shows as Kim, the Engineer, and Gigi, respectively.

Other notable Filipinos who suited up for the Claude-Michel Schönberg musical include Monique Wilson, Isay Alvarez, Joanna Ampil, and Billy Bustamante, among others.
