Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 3) — Filipino-American Eva Noblezada was nominated at the 2017 Tony Awards for her role in the revival production of "Miss Saigon."

The 21-year old actress got the "Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical" nomination for her portrayal of Kim, a young Vietnamese prostitute in a brothel who falls in love with an American soldier.

Noblezada is up against fellow Broadway newcomer Denée Benton, and veterans Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, and Bette Midler.

The 2014 production of "Miss Saigon" is nominated for "Best Revival of a Musical," alongside "Falsettos," and "Hello, Dolly!"

Broadway icon and Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga, the original "Kim" in the 1989 West End and 1991 Broadway productions of the Claude-Michel Schönberg musical, congratulated Noblezada.
