Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 18) — Broadway fans were tickled pink as two Tony Award-winning artists exchanged terms of endearment on Twitter using Filipino slang.

Filipino icon Lea Salonga on May 15 called out her "dude" — Hamilton star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda — on a link she couldn't open. This resulted in a hilarious exchange between the two, much to the delight of netizens.

Miranda, also known for his work in In The Heights and Disney animated musical Moana, referred to Salonga using Filipino slang for "friend" such as "mamshie," "bes," and "pare." He ended the thread with the affectionate colloquial phrase "labyu."

Earlier, Salonga performed the song "A Whole New World" from Aladdin with Miranda, where she revealed she was friends with one of Miranda's former girlfriends who was a Filipino.

Miranda also performed the Hamilton song "Ten Duel Commandments" in Taglish, when Filipino Karla Garcia joined the company of the award-winning musical.
