Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 13) — Singer-actor James Reid proves world-class Filipino talent as he wins an international music channel's search for Best Southeast Asia Act.

Reid beat six other artists from Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.

He received the most votes in the online poll for "Best Southeast Asia Act" on MTV Europe Music Awards' website. The month-long voting began October 14. Winners were announced on Monday.

The 24-year-old Filipino-Australian celebrity thanked his fans for their support, and promised to continue making the Philippines proud.

"It is such an honor to be representing the Philippines and with this recognition I will keep on making music and bring the Philippines to the world stage," Reid said in a video posted on the website of MTV Asia.

Reid's music video "Turning Up," from his latest album "Palm Dreams"  was also featured on the MTV Asia site. It features "bass-boosted club bangers that could easily induce eargasm. James Reid is on a creative roll," said MTV Asia.

Reid is a singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, model, producer, and the other half of popular love team JaDine, with Nadine Lustre, who was nominated in the same category in 2015.

Congratulatory messages flooded social media and Reid's win quickly trended Monday on Twitter.
