Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 18) — It turned out to be a smart business move for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2017 organizers to have Vice Ganda back in the festival, as the comedy film "Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad" topped this year's box office.

MMFF Spokersperson Noel Ferrer announced in an Instagram post on Wednesday its four top grossers.

Following "The Revenger Squad" in the list are Coco Martin's "Ang Panday," Paul Soriano's "Siargao," and Ian Loreños' "Haunted Forest."

Vice Ganda's previous MMFF entries "Petrang Kabayo," "Praybeyt Benjamin," and "Beauty and the Bestie" also gained commercial success in the festival.

Prior to the announcement of this year's top grossers, "The Revenger Squad" brought home its lone award, the People's Choice Award, in the MMFF 2017 Gabi ng Parangal in December.

Amid mixed reviews over MMFF 2017's line-up of films, organizers are also celebrating this year's success of exceeding their ₱1 billion target earnings.

According to Ferrer, the four remaining films in the line-up — "Ang Larawan," "All of You," "Deadma Walking," and "Meant to Beh" — have individually sold for over ₱30 million each.

He said all the films are still in cinemas for their fourth week.
