Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 9) — The reel-life Betty and Veronica are standing up against a Philippine magazine's supposed "disrespectful" alteration of their bodies in its magazine spread.

"Riverdale" stars Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes on Friday slammed Cosmopolitan Philippines for an unrealistic editing of their bodies.

"It's sad that you felt our bodies needed to be slimmed down. But Camila and I are f***ing beautiful as is," Reinhart posted on her Instagram Stories on International Women's Day no less.

She posted photos of her and Mendes, comparing the photos published by Cosmopolitan U.S. versus the ones posted by its Philippine counterpart. Their waists are visibly slimmed down in the ones published by the Philippine magazine.

"Lili Reinhart and I feel disrespected & disturbed by the sight of our photoshopped bodies in Cosmopolitan Philippines," Mendes wrote on her Instagram Stories.

Mendes, who plays Veronica on the hit TV series "Riverdale," is Cosmo's March cover girl. While Reinhart, who plays Betty, is on the inside pages of the Philippine publication.

"We want their readers to know that those bodies are not ours; they have been distorted from their natural beauty. We prefer to see our bodies the way they actually are," Mendes said.

The two stars described the unrealistic ways women are subjected to conform to beauty standards.

"It's an everyday battle sometimes. To see our bodies become so distorted in an editing process is a perfect example of the obstacles we have to overcome," Reinhart said.

She added she will not give up the battle to smash these disturbing standards.

"We are f***ing powerful, beautiful, and strong. We aren't going to hide behind photoshop to conform to beauty standards... You can't 'fix' us," Reinhart wrote.

CNN Philippines has reached out to Cosmo Philippines but it has yet to respond.
