Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 8) — Days after his surgery, pop icon Gary Valenciano gave an update on his health and thanked his supporters after a successful open-heart surgery.

"Hi everyone. I'm a-okay. I'm recuperating," the 53-year-old singer said in an Instagram video Tuesday.

Valenciano said he appreciated his fans for sharing their love and concern on social media and told them not to worry, before signing off with his signature "Mr. Pure Energy" title.

"I love you all and I'm thankful that God has given me so many people that have shared their love with me and, I'll see you soon okay? Don't worry na. I'll be okay. Pure Energy uli [again]. God bless," he said.

The singer's message comes in the wake of a stream of posts from his family and an announcement saying he is doing well after a bypass operation.

Valenciano said the doctors were "very satisfied" with the results. He said he'll return to his shows and other commitments as soon as he can.

"Paminsan-minsan siguro mag-aabsent pa rin ako [There will be times when I'll be absent] just to make sure that I'm in good shape but the doctors are very satisfied with how it all turned out," the singer said.

Valenciano went through a bypass surgery on Sunday after doctors noticed a blocked artery in his heart.
