Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 16) — Actress Heart Evangelista is a real-life crazy rich Asian — and that brought her face to face with novelist Kevin Kwan himself.

For the feature "Crazy Rich Couture" in Harper Bazaar, Kwan trailed Evangelista and other Asian fashion influencers during this year's Dior Haute Couture Fall show in Paris.

Evangelista was featured alongside twins Rachel and Michelle Yeoh, who hailed from a prominent Malaysian-Chinese family, and Feiping Chang, a Taiwanese native shaping the fashion scene in Hong Kong.

Harper's Bazaar also released a video of the four women entitled "The Real Crazy Rich Asians," documenting them trying on dresses and how they selected their couture.

"Asians can be really conservative. It's hard to express yourself without someone saying something about you," Kwan quoted Evangelista as saying. "But what I realize is, if you can use your platform of influence to inspire girls to step out of their comfort zone with the way they dress, I think that's pretty powerful."

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Evangelista thanked Kwan and the publication for the feature and said the author has since become "a dear friend."

"I had the honor of being featured alongside some of the most incredible and stylish Asian icons," said Evangelista. "I am beyond grateful to Kevin and the entire Harpers team for being such a dream to work with!"

I woke up to one of the most amazing features in my life! My last trip to Paris was a very special one because not only was I there for couture week but I had been invited by @kevinkwanbooks who has now become a dear friend! He was doing a special ‘Crazy Rich Couture’ feature for Harpers Bazaar US and asked me if I would be interested in being a part of it. I had the honor of being featured alongside some of the most incredible and stylish Asian icons. I am beyond grateful to Kevin and the entire Harpers team for being such a dream to work with! I’m so incredibly proud of this project and would love for you to see it too! Grab the September issue of Harpers Bazaar US or click the link in my bio! @harpersbazaarus

Kwan's story ran on August 16, a day after the film adaptation of his novel "Crazy Rich Asians" hit theaters in the United States. The highly anticipated romantic comedy, headlining Constance Wu and Henry Golding, debuts in the Philippines on August 22.

It also features two other Filipino actors, Kris Aquino and Nico Santos.
