Asia's Songbird will join her husband Ogie Alcasid in a Sydney show of rival network ABS-CBN on October 20.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 17) — Asia's Songbird has flown to a new nest.

Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has moved to ABS-CBN after years of being with GMA.

ABS-CBN's entertainment news site Push shared photos of Velasquez-Alcasid signing on to be an official "Kapamilya." With her were Chief Operating Officer Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Chairperson Mark Lopez and ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak.

At a press conference Wednesday, Velasquez-Alcasid turned emotional as she recalled the warm welcome she received from fans and well-wishers.

She revealed she will be part of ASAP, a Sunday variety show on ABS-CBN, adding she would also be part of a new sitcom with her husband, Ogie Alcasid, and a judge on Idol Philippines, a new singing competition.

Velasquez-Alcasid also shared part of the reason behind the shift was that she wanted to work with Sharon Cuneta and Sarah Geronimo, among others.

And it wasn't just Velasquez-Alcasid's fans who were excited about her move. Other celebrities joined in the welcome as well.

Gary Valenciano, Angel Locsin, and Vice Ganda all sent video messages welcoming Velasquez-Alcasid, saying they could not wait to work with her.

Geronimo, who was once mentored by Asia's Songbird on a singing competition also sent a video message, singing "Open Arms."
