Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 12) — Make way for Prince Ali!

Disney released an official trailer of its live action remake of its classic film "Aladdin," which stars Egypt-born Canadian actor Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Indian-English actress Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine.

Actor Will Smith also brings a fresh take to the role of The Genie, who was voiced by the late Robin Williams in the 1992 animated film.

Mixing traditional desert sets with computer-generated graphics, the mysterious city of Agrabah comes to life with every sandy step.

Aside from the classic songs from the original movie composed by award-winning composer Alan Menken, two previously unreleased songs will also be used in the movie.

Disney also teased two new characters: Dalia, a handmaiden of Princess Jasmine, and Prince Anders, Aladdin's potential rival for Jasmine's affections.

The movie was based on a tale from One Thousand and One Nights, about a poor boy who, with the help of his genie, used magic to rise up in the world.

The film is set to open on May 24.
