Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 24) — In the wake of two strong earthquakes that hit the country early this week, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray asked for a prayer for the safety of people in the affected areas.

The 25-year-old Filipino-Australian beauty on Wednesday shared on Instagram a photo of the "Kababayan" jacket she wore during one of the Miss Universe preliminary events last year with a piece of white paper printed with the words "Pray for Philippines." The title of her song, 'We're In This Together," is also written on the photo.

The post comes with the caption, "Mga kababayan and people from all over the universe, if you could take a moment to pray for my countrymen. For the safety of them and their families" with a praying man and Philippine flag emojis.

Gray, the fourth Filipino to win the pageant title, called on Filipinos to "remain alert and take the appropriate precautions."

In the same post, she also shared photos showing tips on what to do during an earthquake, which she asked her followers to "save to your devices and share with your loved ones."

A magnitude 6.1 quake jolted Luzon on Monday afternoon, killing at least 16. Barely a day after, a 6.5-magnitude tremor hit the Visayas.
