Manila (CNN Philippines Life) Each year, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) honors the best in broadcast media with the Golden Dove Awards. Established 26 years ago, the Golden Dove Awards were created to “encourage excellence and high professional standards in the broadcast media as well as to promote more responsible broadcasting.”

This year, at the Marriott hotel in Pasay City, CNN Philippines bagged four Golden Doves.

The network’s first win this year, the award for Best Special Program (“On The Record: Breaking Fake News - Hosted by Nicole Curato”) is in line with the Golden Dove Awards’ theme for the year, “Countering Fake News.” The special tackles the rise of fake news through social media, and what Filipinos can do to fight it.

Next, Mitzi Borromeo accepted the award for Best Magazine Show, “Profiles Marawi: Heartbreak and Homecoming,” which follows residents of Marawi City as they return to their battle-ravaged homes and attempt to rebuild their lives from the rubble. This is the second year “Profiles” bags the award.

“The Source” was awarded Best Public Affairs Program. On today’s program, host Pinky Webb thanked the KBP for the award, saying that “the recognition is an inspiration for us to continue to provide information that you can trust and tackle issues that matter most to FIlipinos.”
