“Duplicity” by Dino Gabito (August 3, Thursday)

Presented by Alliance Française de Manille in partnership with Metro Gallery, “Duplicity” is Dino Gabito’s third solo exhibition — an expansion of his renderings of the shrouded figure. MO_Space X: Fresh Cut, New Blood (August 5, Saturday)

“Fresh Cut, New Blood” is a group show on collage, curated by Gary-Ross Pastrana. As part of the MO_Space X series of exhibits in celebration of its 10th (the first being Roberto Chabet’s “Waves”), the show presents work by Jan Balquin, Dina Gadia, Jacob Lindo, Carina Santos, and Jel Suarez.

Featuring new works, as well as a series of exercises made within the parameters of instructions given by Chabet-taught artists, Mariano Ching, Yasmin Sison, and the curator, “Fresh Cut, New Blood” explores “collage’s capacity to explore, scavenge, and decode the tumult found in the present visual landscape.”

Three solo exhibits are opening on Saturday, August 5, at Blanc Gallery (145 Katipunan Ave., St. Ignatius Village, Quezon City). Catch new work by Victor Balanon (“X/Y/Z”), Buboy Cañafranca (“Cognitive Dissonance”) and Carina Santos (“Satellites for Minor Planets”). “A Drop of Red” by Hadrian Mendoza (August 5, Saturday)

See Hadrian Mendoza’s sculptural work in “A Drop of Red,” which opens at Galleria Duemila (210 Loring St., Pasay City) on August 5, Saturday at 6 p.m. Using installations and pieces made with ox blood and ash-glazed ceramics, Mendoza’s work is a commentary on the war on drugs. “Living Spaces” (August 5, Saturday)

“Living Spaces” is a group exhibit curated by Alice Sarmiento that aims to visualize the global housing crisis as seen in the context of Southeast Asia. Part of “Condition Report,”Japan Foundation Asia Center’s series of contemporary art shows, “Living Spaces” features work by multi-disciplinary artists and creatives namely, Grid, Make Believe, Marla Darwin, Indy Paredes, and Miti Ruangkritya with a public program consisting of talks with KADAMAY, professor Chester Arcilla, copywriter Anina Abola, and interior designer Tess Quevedo.

“Discomfort Room” (August 5, Saturday)

“Discomfort Room” is an experimental group show curated by Wipo. It attempts to engage with mental illness and the stigma around it, as well as the idea of your life as a room and mental illness as a thing that inhabits it.

The show features new work by Kris Abrigo, Gab Baez, Franz Casaclang, John Hey, Lorenzo, Luis Hidalgo, Jeffrey Jay Jarin, Doktor Karayom, Celine Lee, Pisssquidhead, Rafaelle Louise, Reuel Yap Rendon, Raha Rodriguez, Mark Jeffrey R. Santos, Red Salonga, Wesly Sy, Jose Tong, Miguel Lorenzo Uy, and Wipo.

“Immortal Days” by Glitch Glitch and “2307” by Aia Solis (August 5, Saturday)

Opening at NOVA Gallery on August 5, Saturday at 6 p.m. are two shows: “Immortal Days” by Glitch Glitch (the collective name of visual artists Crist Espiritu and Angge Lorente), which focuses on returning to “those years of juvenile exploits,” and “2307” by Aia Solis, which aims to visualize anxiety and depression through a new series of photographs.
