Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, catch the local staging of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” get a head start on celebrating the holidays at Stage Sessions: Pintig ng Pasko, do some last minute Christmas shopping at the Art Market, listen to local indie bands, attend a photo exhibit, and take part in the Wildfire Market.
Robbie Guevara, who also directed the local staging of Jonathan Larson’s rock monologue “Tick, Tick...Boom,” is back with “A Christmas Carol.” Based on Charles Dickens’ novel of the same name, “A Christmas Carol” is brought to life by 9 Works Theatrical in partnership with Globe Telecom. The musical follows the journey of Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future. The show opens on Friday, Dec. 2, 8 p.m. at the Globe Iconic Store, Bonifacio Global City. The show will run from Dec. 2 to 25. Tickets are available online through Ticketworld.
Celebrate Christmas early with the best acts from the local indie scene at “Pintig ng Pasko” featuring performances by Reese Lansangan, Keiko Necesario, The Chimichangas, Asch x Poch, Ben&Ben, Coeli, Serge Gabriel, and Jonel Revistual. Tickets will be available online through Ticketworld and are priced at ₱550 inclusive of a CD and ₱350 for admission only. Art in Island’s trademark weekend Art Market is back with Art Market: Christmas Edition. The Art Market will feature local artists showcasing their talents in the fields of art ranging from handicraft to painting. Photographer Miguel De Quiros presents his debut exhibit: Buto, Tiklop, Laman. The whole exhibit is shot in film — with De Quiros handling every step, from contacting the models to developing the film to printing the photographs. The photographer has taken it upon himself to ensure the privacy of the models as the photographs touch upon sensitive subject matters.
