Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, celebrate Manila as a “Water City,” listen to an indie folk group’s second album for the first time, marvel at folk art inspired by jeepneys, witness the launch of the debut EP of a local rock band, get better at UX, and be involved in the planning of this year’s Pride March & Festival.

Escolta Block Party, a community gathering of artists and designers celebrating the heritage of the country’s capital, celebrates Manila as a “Water City” in its MNL Urban Design Festival on May 20. Ransom Collective
The Ransom Collective’s “Traces” Album Launch

Indio folk group The Ransom Collective launches its second album “Traces,” three years after releasing their first EP. The event starts 4 p.m. with a meet and greet and album signing, followed at 6 p.m. with musical performances from the band and with guest performances from Tom’s Story, Ourselves the Elves, and Tandems ‘91. Entrance is ₱300 with a free drink, and tickets will be available at the door (no pre-sale). Guests are advised to bring a valid I.D. with a birthdate.

The launch will be held on May 20, at the Palace Pool Club in Fort, BGC. Minors may enjoy the event from the viewing deck of Café Naya at The Palace located at the rear end of the venue. For more details, check the Facebook event page.

Carousel Casualties’ “Madison” EP Launch

Indie rock band Carousel Casualties releases their debut six-track EP “Madison” on May 19 at Saguijo Cafe + Bar Events in Makati. The launch starts at 9 p.m. and features performances from local indie acts Banna Harbera, Moonwlk, Rob & The Hitmen, Kissling!, and Paranoid City. Tickets are at ₱200 with a free drink. Talk | God Bless Our Trip with Electrolychee

Design studio Electrolychee presents jeepney as folk art in the book “Biyaheng Langit: Jeepney Folk Art,” a compilation of 180 “graphic, surreal, and amusing examples of vinyl decal jeepney art devoted to the Catholic faith.” The talk, as part of Bellas Artes Projects’ #QuiapoXOutpost series, will be held on May 20 at Bellas Artes Outpost.
