Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, watch a play about millennial life, shop for eco-conscious tote bags, attend a workshop on visual storytelling, celebrate the end of the year with art, spoken word, and music, or covers of your favorite Christmas songs, and visit an annual independent press expo.

Sining Collective Presents: Hiraya (Sana/Nasa)

Celebrate the end of the year with a night of art, spoken word, and music. Sining Collective, a community for artists and art lovers, is hosting Hiraya (Sana/Nasa), a year-end party on Saturday, Dec. 16, 4 p.m. at Kahuna Makati.

Hiraya (Sana/Nasa) will showcase artwork by Borgy Alvarez, Roimhie Dimaano, Kc Nyorx, Danne Mantilla, Oprah Dela Peña, Hershie Relota, George Salazar, Zel Tribiana, Sophiya Franchesca, JayMar Valdoria, Mayel Tapic, Chriztann Villon, Danelle Mantilla, Angelo Etrata, Kimberly May Paclibar, Jora Doveman, Sophia Sevilla, and short films by Marvin Gabas and Rian Magtaan. There will also be music by Flying Ipis, Tanya Markova, Run Like Lions, sleepersecond, Esremborak, Cinnamon Sundays, Atlantis, Lara PH, CinderBlock, and Bés, spoken word performances by BAON Collective and Tadhana, and live tattoo sessions by Good Hand Tattoo.

Quarter Life: An Almost Adult Musical

Made for millennials by millennials, “Quarter Life: An Almost Adult Musical” asks the question: “How does a twenty-something navigate the modern world like an adult?” The original piece, written, produced, and performed by the inaugural class of Trumpets’ Premium Playhouse Master Class Series, features four vignettes that illustrate the daily struggles of millennials.

The show will run on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. for the matinee show and 6 p.m. for the gala show at Pineapple Lab, 6071 R. Palma Street, Poblacion, Makati City. For more information, visit their Facebook event page.

Visual Storytelling Workshop with Paco Guerrero

In partnership with Sony Philippines, Henry’s Cameras is hosting a visual storytelling workshop with Paco Guerrero on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at A SPACE Greenbelt. Paco Guerrero is a travel, lifestyle, and commercial photographer who has worked with numerous international and local clients. He is currently the executive editor of GRID Magazine.

Gabi Na Naman Productions Christmas Party

Gabi Na Naman Productions and Vandals On The Wall are hosting their own year-end party as well, but with Christmas carols and giveaways. The Christmas-themed gig will have original songs and Christmas song covers performed by musical guests Twin Lobster, Aia de Leon, Carousel Casualties, Oh, Flamingo, The Ransom Collective, Autotelic, Taken by Cars, and Shirebound and Busking. The bulk of the event’s proceeds will be used to fund a kiddie party for Safe Haven Community Center & Children's Home.

BLTX Yr 7: Mazinehawa St Features Your Ever Reliable Malcontents

Better Living Through Xerography (BLTX) is a small independent press expo founded by Adam David and Chingbee Cruz. Since its inception in 2010, the seven-year-old expo has gone beyond its homebase of Manila and has reached as far as Cagayan de Oro and Davao. BLTX encourages self-publishing and provides a platform to some of the best and brightest writers and collectives today.

Now on its seventh year, you can find books, zines, postcards, artwork, and other items at BLTX’s Mazinehawa Street Features on Friday, Dec. 15, from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 154 Maginhawa St., Sikatuna Village, Quezon City. Featured artists and collectives include the Youth & Beauty Brigade, Deus Sex Machina, Cavite Young Writers Associate (CYWA), After Lunch Art Collective (ALAC), Magpies, Haliya Publishing, Kuda-Kuda, Studio Soup, Kwago and the Art of Doing, Katinig Collective, and many more.

Denuo Collaboration Series No. 1 Release

Denuo is a small eco-conscious brand that sells thrift and vintage clothing, as well as sustainable and upcycled products. On Saturday, Dec. 16, the online boutique store will launch its first collaboration collection, Series No. 1, at Hub: Make Lab in Escolta. The collection comprises of repurposed oversized tote bags, which have been hand-painted by artists Art Tavera, Auggie Fontanilla, and Chico Zapotilla to highlight “the beauty in sustainability and ethical production practices.” The store opens by 11 a.m., while the event starts at 6 p.m., with DJ sets by Sewage Worker, Akilraham Sleuth, and Acid Reflux.
