Komiket Makati 2018

Fans of local comics can hoard comics at Komiket Makati 2018, a mini local comics and art market. Komiket, or the FIlipino Komiks Market, is an affordable art and comics fair that aims to discover new creators and readers, and celebrate new book launches. The event, happening at Hole in the Wall on Saturday, Feb. 10, is in cooperation with Fringe Manila.

Mariquit Na Jazz: Harana, Toma at Iba Pa!

Kick off the weekend with a night of smooth tunes and a drink or two at DITO: Bahay ng Sining’s event, featuring jazz acts Project Yazz and Debonair District.

This Friday, Feb. 10, from 10 p.m. onwards, enjoy a glass of wine or a shot of whisky with friends or a loved one at this pre-Valentine’s gig.

The Rest Is Noise 23: Podcast Launch

This Friday, join music event prod The Rest is Noise as they launch the very first episode of their new podcast series, where they’ll be introducing new music from rising acts and established musicians around the country.

Head over to Route 196 to enjoy performances by BP Valenzuela, She’s Only Sixteen, Bullet Dumas, Tom’s Story, Cowboy Country Club, and a special set by Bawal Clan.

Book Binge Bazaar

Go on a book binge this weekend as National Bookstore hosts its first Book Binge Bazaar, an event where imported books will be available for only ₱75, ₱175, or ₱275 each. Book signings by best-selling authors will also be held throughout the three-day event.

Himala: Isang Musikal (Special Show for Students)

This weekend, the iconic 1982 film starring Nora Aunor is making a comeback as a musical with 9Works Theatrical and The Sandbox Collective’s staging of “Himala: Isang Musikal.” With lyrics by Ricky Lee, music by Vince De Jesus, direction and set design by Ed Lacson Jr., and starring Awit Award winner Aicelle Santos as Elsa, the show is set to be as memorable as the film and the original production.

The show runs from Saturday, Feb. 10 to Sunday, March 4 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight theater, but students can enjoy a special discounted show on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m.

Artist Talk/ Mark Salvatus: Salvage Projects

Artist Mark Salvatus, whose current solo exhibition runs from Jan. 13 to Feb. 10, is hosting a talk on the closing day at 4 p.m at 1335Mabini.

Salvatus’ exhibition, Salvage Projects, deals with “the movement of time and the moving of/across spatial boundaries, between the mundane and the global.”

Movement Workshop

Join Vancouver-based dancer-performer-choreographer Ralph Escamillan at his community workshop and explore different styles of movement in dance, this Saturday, Feb. 10, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Escamillan’s arsenal of skills include street dance styles, ballroom, circus, and drag.
