This Friday, Dec. 28, join Catch 272 as they send off 2018 with singalongs, lip-syncs, raffles, drinks, and music. The party starts at 9 p.m. Admission is free.

                                                      Cine-Sabi filmmaking workshops

This weekend, enjoy the last two filmmaking workshops from the Maginhawa Film Festival. On Friday, Dec. 28, learn production design and the art of world-building from Popo Diaz, production designer of films like “Respeto,” “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw,” “Ang Babaeng Humayo,” and “Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita.” On Saturday, Dec. 29, learn everything about being a film producer from Alemberg Ang, producer of films like “Liway,” “Ang Larawan,” and “2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten.”

Registration fee is ₱800 for the production design workshop and ₱2,000 for the producing lecture. Slots are limited.

                                                 Tugisin ang Halimaw: a year-end garage sale

Before the season of giving comes to an end, head back to Catch 272 on Saturday for a year-end garage sale. Proceeds from the sale will fund community stagings of “Sa Digma ng Halimaw,” a docu-theatre play about the war on drugs told from the perspectives of the victims’ families.

                                                                Maginhawa Film Festival

Catch local indie films this weekend as Maginhawa Film Festival draws to a close, especially for those looking for an alternative to the Metro Manila Film Festival.

On Dec. 28, watch Carlo Enciso Catu’s “Aria” at Cinema Centenario on Dec. 28 at 2 p.m.; Dwein Baltazar’s “Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus” at 4:30 p.m; Kip Oebanda’s “Liway” at 7 p.m.; and Charlson Ong, Choy Pangilinan, and Lito Casaje’s “Tanabata’s Wife” at 9:30 p.m.

On Dec. 29, watch Marius Talampas’ “Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap” at 12 a.m.; Dan Villegas’ “Hintayan ng Langit” at 11 a.m.; “Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus” at 1:30 p.m.; “Tanabata’s Wife” at 4 p.m.; “Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap” at 6 p.m.; “Liway” at 9 p.m.; and “Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap” again at 11:30 p.m.

On Dec. 30, catch “Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap” at 11 a.m., “Tanabata’s Wife” at 1:30 p.m., “Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap” again at 4 p.m., “Liway” at 6 p.m., “Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus” at 9 p.m., and “Hintayan ng Langit” at 11:30 p.m.

From Dec. 28 to Dec. 30, cosplayers and anime-fans can make their way to the SMX Convention Center for booths, competitions, skits, and games.
