Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, attend local indie gigs, catch live sets by electronic musicians, brush up on Philippine history at a museum lecture, and visit a community market and fiesta in Poblacion.

Attraction! Reaction! Presents: Swiss Army Man

This Friday, Jan. 11, watch local indie acts at the 11th anniversary of gig series, Attraction! Reaction! Catch Ian Penn, Maya’s Anklet, Rusty Machines, Ciudad, Stomachine, Tide/edit, and Ang Bandang Shirley at 9 p.m. at 123 Block in Mandaluyong.

Door chare is ₱350 with one free beer.

Reflection: The Single and Music Video Launch

Another local indie gig is happening this Friday at Route 196, where alternative/emo rock band Wish Sticks will launch the music video for their single, “Reflection.” The band will perform a live set, along with other local acts like Shirebound and Busking, Stomachine, The Ridleys, and Sofa Sky. There will also be DJ sets by Some Guy and Karlo Soriano.

The event starts at 8 p.m.

Mayaewk, Rhxanders, Sewage Worker

Head to Poblacion this weekend for live sets by three electronic acts: African-American/Filipino rapper and producer Rhxanders, electronic musician Sewage Worker, and French-Japanese beatmaker Mayaewk.

History Talks: Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade

Brush up on colonial history this weekend at the Ayala Museum, where there will be a talk on the Manila Acapulco Galleon Trade by Dr. Carlos Madrid. The event is happening on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Lecture rate for tickets is ₱350, ₱280 for those with AGC and museum memberships, ₱250 for seniors, and ₱175 for undergrads and teachers.

Community Market & Fiesta

Make your way back to Poblacion on Saturday, for a community market and fiesta at Annex House. Guests can expect wares from pop-up stores by Balai-balai, Para Sa Diwà, Colony, The workshop., and more, tattoo sessions by Chico Zapotilla, live art by Jenn Ban, and music by Tarantella and Hey Mr. Dee Jae.
