Duterte threatens to junk EDCA

After announcing he was terminating joint military drills with the United States, President Rodrigo Duterte, this time, threatens that he would junk a defense deal with the superpower — citing it was not signed by the president at the time.

Duterte said the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) with the U.S. Did not bear the signature of former president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino.

The pact had earlier been questioned by some senators and the matter was also brought to the Supreme Court — which later ruled that the deal was binding and constitutional.
