Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey apologized on Twitter for initially announcing the wrong winner of the beauty pageant.

Harvey, also a host of television show Family Feud, announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner, but later retracted his announcement minutes after Gutiérrez was crowned.

"Let me just take control of this. This is exactly what's on the card," Harvey, showing the official results, said. "I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card."

Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach made her way back to the stage and was crowned by Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega, who is also from Colombia.

Shortly after the pageant, Harvey tweeted it was an honest mistake on his part.

Before the three consecutive tweets, irked netizens reacted to a tweet he sent out earlier. The host misspelled Philippines and Colombia. The said tweet was deleted minutes later.
