Sarah-Lorraine Riek

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — After what could probably be the most unconventional Miss Universe coronation ever, a new controversy seems to be brewing: Miss Germany alleges that none of this year's candidates voted for Miss Philippines.

In a video posted on the Missosology Facebook page, Sarah-Lorraine Riek, Miss Germany-Universe 2015, was asked about her reaction to how the pageant's winners were announced.

Riek replied, "I couldn't believe it. I was so upset because, for me, she was robbed...I was very happy for Colombia, actually. she really deserved it. But I'm very unhappy with the result and so were the other girls, I'm very sorry to say it."

Natalia Cruz, a correspondent for Missosology – a site devoted to covering international beauty pageants – asked Riek why she and the other candidates went directly to Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, after Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, was crowned as Miss Universe.

Riek smiled and said, "Because no one of us voted for Philippines. I'm so sorry to say that."

Cruz asked Riek to elaborate on her answer, to which Riek replied, "No, I don't want to talk about that."

Riek did say that they were happy for Wurtzbach and wished her a wonderful reign.

When Cruz asked Riek how she would have handled the situation had she been in Gutierrez's place, she said that it would be the "most awful situation ever."

"That would be a nightmare," she said. "To get crowned Ms. Universe and for them to take away the crown, I feel so sorry for her (Gutierrez). But I would have passed the crown and would still be proud to represent my country."

Another video posted on the Missosology Facebook page shows a group of contestants surrounding Gutierrez and clapping.

Wurtzbach appears in the video and seemed to want to get close to Gutierrez, only to be apparently blocked by other contestants.

She is then led off the stage by a pageant organizer amid cheers of "Colombia! Colombia!" by the contestants and members of the audience.

Apology issued

Riek, through the official Miss Universe - Germany Facebook page, said that she never intended to offend Wurtzbach in any way with her comments.

"She is really sorry if the video suggests anything else than that. It's an emotional roller coaster what happened yesterday in Las Vegas," the statement said.

It added that Riek actually feels sorry for Gutierrez and Wurtzbach — the former for the "nightmare" she experienced after the announcement gaffe, and the latter because she didn't have her real crowning moment.

It also said that Riek is happy that a half-German contestant brought home the Miss Universe crown.
