Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 13) — The "Barong Tagalog" is undoubtedly the definitive Filipino formal attire.

For the 31st Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, designer Albert Andrada added some Filipino flair to the barongs meant for ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners.

For one, Andrada's unique barongs are named after Filipino traits, such as the "Makatao" (humanitarian) barong for Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Although a traditional button-down like most barongs, Turnbull's has intricate embroidery on the right and linear embroidery on the left.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump's "Matipuno" (robust) half-button down barong has a simpler look, featuring linear embroidery on the cuffs.

Even the ASEAN leaders' spouses get to flaunt Andrada's special designs.

The wife of South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Kim Jung-sook, gets a two-piece garment composed of a base dress and a long-sleeved, baro't saya-inspired, floor-length tunic, adorned with scroll and floral embroidery.

Not to be beaten, ASEAN chair President Rodrigo Duterte's "Maharlika" (freeman) barong gets striking embroidery down the front, along with linear embroidery on the sleeves.
