Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 17) — It's a very merry Christmas for Filipinos indeed.

Philippine pride Catriona Gray gave the country its fourth Miss Universe title on Monday — eight days before Christmas.

Minutes after the iconic Mikimoto crown was passed on to Gray, she dedicated her win to her fellow Filipinos.

"Mga kababayan, I am so happy to give you the best Christmas gift ever! Sa lahat ng Pilipino and all the fans, thank you so much for all the love and support," she said.

She also shared what was going through her mind the moment host Steve Harvey called her name.

"I second guessed myself, like, 'Did he say Philippines?' It just passed so fast. I can't even wrap my mind around it," she said.

The 24-year-old Filipina-Australian beauty bested 93 other candidates from different countries. She succeeded Demi Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa.

Gray is the fourth Filipino to bring home the coveted title, joining Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, and Pia Wurtzbach who won in 1969, 1973, and 2015, respectively.
