Fire razes residential area in Quiapo

Fire officials said the blaze started at the second floor of a building in the area.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A fire in a residential and commercial area along Arlegui Street in Quiapo, Manila reached Task Force Charlie before being put out by firemen.

According to reports, the fire started early Tuesday evening (March 1) at a junk shop and quickly spread to neighboring houses which were made from light materials.

It took firefighters around three hours to put the fire out of control. The fire was declared out at 9:18 p.m.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said a firefighter sustained minor injuries, but no fatalities were reported.

It added that around P2 million in damage resulted from the blaze.
