Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A transmission tower toppled on Wednesday due to a fire that hit a residential area in Alabang, Muntinlupa City near the South Luzon Expressway.
The power grid operator said the fire caused the foundation of the transmission tower to weaken.
National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) assured power supply would not be affected.
"Fortunately, due to NGCP's line redundancy system, there were no power interruptions," it said in a Facebook post.
The fire was put out at 9 a.m. Fire officials said no casualties were reported.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is investigating the cause of fire.
