Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 18) — The father-in-law of Senator Grace Poe figured in an incident at a mall in San Juan City on Sunday morning.

Teodoro Paraiso Llamanzares was driving his Toyota Innova and was about to park at the fourth level of Promenade when, as witnesses said, the vehicle continued to accelerate toward the barriers of the parking level and fell from the structure, said the San Juan Police report.

Llamanzares was taken to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center for treatment.

In a statement, Poe said her father-in-law was "alright" and she was thankful no one else was hurt in the incident.

"It's a good thing he was wearing his seatbelt so he only has a few fractured ribs and bruises but we expect a speedy recovery. We want to thank everyone for their prayers and concern. We're just thankful he was kept safe and no one else was injured," she said.

Authorities said the incident is being investigated.
