Liberal Party members are confident President Aquino's blessing will boost Roxas' chances of winning the presidency in 2016.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Liberal Party presidential bet Mar Roxas does not mind being a 'Noynoy 2.0'.

"What's wrong with Noy 2.0?," asked Roxas rhetorically. "Narating natin 'tong nakaraang limang taon — yung katayuan bilang isang bansa na in recent contemporary history ay talagang di pa narating or hindi pa nga nai-imagine."

Roxas was at the commemoration of former President Cory Aquino's death anniversary on Saturday, a day after he got the endorsement of President Benigno Aquino III as Liberal Party's standard bearer in 2016.

Who is Mar Roxas?

Roxas defended the current administration's reforms.

"Hindi ko na kailangan isa-isahin pa ang mga statistika at mga pruweba nito, pero sa tayo ng ating bansa, sa mata ng buong mundo at sa mata rin natin, ay iba ang kinatatayuan natin ngayon. Alam ng mga kababayan natin kung anuman ang nagawa ni PNoy ay kailangang ipagpatuloy natin ito," Roxas said.

Roxas has not fared well in recent surveys but LP stalwarts believe that Aquino's endorsement will boost Roxas' chances in 2016.

Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice said that since Aquino has been "the most popular president in the country's history," the endorsement would be a big plus factor.

Bayan secretary-general Renato Reyes earlier said Roxas will only continue Noynoy Aquino's failed legacy.
