Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Never shy about expressing his opinions, Carlos Celdran earned the ire of the supporters of Davao City Mayor and presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte after a recent Facebook post where he called them "Dutertards."

The portmanteau — a combination of "Duterte" and the derogatory term "retard" — was coined by Celdran in his post on Wednesday (December 9), when he said he was done with "positive campaigning."

He went on to call Duterte supporters "delusional and lazy" and ended it by challenging them to "bring the hate on."

Celdran has received criticism on his page after announcing that was supporting Manuel "Mar" Roxas II. In a post on November 29, Celdran expressed his dismay at receiving hateful messages and appealed to Duterte fans to keep their ranks "in order."

As of writing, Celdran's post on Wednesday has been shared over 700 times, has gotten over 3,000 likes, and has received over 600 comments, most of them from Duterte fans who were vocal about expressing their dislike of Celdran and what he had to say about the Davao City mayor.

Meanwhile, some on social media took part on the topic and used the hashtag #dutertard.

There's a fine line between being a Duterte supporter and a #Dutertard and I see people transgressing this line constantly on my news feed.Sorry but nothing will change! #Du30ForPresident
