Atty. Apolonia Comia-Soguilon (L) and Roy Señeres

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The political party of late Rep. Roy Señeres will field a candidate who was earlier ruled by the Commission of Election as "nuisance" to replace the lawmaker as their presidential bet.

Señeres was among the six presidential candidates on Comelec's certified list. The Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka is set to field Atty. Apolonia Comia-Soguilon in place of Señeres.

Soguilon submitted her certificate of candidacy before the Comelec last October to run as an independent presidentiable, but the lawyer was ruled as a nuisance candidate.

She claims she was a member of the Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka since 1995.

Comelec Resolution No. 9984 allows a candidate who dies or is disqualified to be replaced by someone from the same party and with the same surname until midday of election day (May 10).

The poll body earlier said that the printing of the official ballots will begin on February 15.

Señeres, through his lawyer and daughter, withdrew from the presidential race on February 5, saying it was recommended by his doctors for health reasons.

His camp was set to submit on Monday the official certificate of withdrawal with the attached medical records of Señeres, but on that day he passed away due to a cardiac arrest triggered by his diabetes.

The poll body earlier said that the printing of the official ballots will begin on February 15.
