Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Ilocanos warmly welcomed Sen. Grace Poe in Batac, Ilocos Norte where she went to campaign on the third day of campaign period.

Gov. Imee Marcos received the senator, despite her brother Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. running as vice president of another presidential candidate, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago.

The governor said she would welcome everyone who would like to present their platforms in Ilocos Norte. She, however, clarified she is supporting Santiago as her brother Bongbong’s running mate.

Marcos said she doesn't doubt Poe is a Filipino and that she is a certified Ilocana.

Poe previously said she believes that she would gain the support of people from the north, especially from the province of Pangasinan—the home province of her father, Fernando Poe Jr.

According to 2013 National Elections Statistics from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Region 1 or the Ilocos region had 2,865,115 total registered voters with 2,364,308 actual voters and 82.52 percent voter turnout.

While the "solid north," composed of Region 1, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Region 2 or the Cagayan Valley, could deliver about 5 million votes from Ilocanos.
