Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — On the last day of campaign period, candidates are holding their miting de avances or final rallies on Saturday (May 7).

 

The Liberal Party will hold a "grand unity walk" from the University Ave. to Quezon City Circle starting at 1 p.m. Presidential candidate Manuel "Mar" Roxas II and running mate Rep. Leni Robredo will then hold their miting de avance at 5 p.m. at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

Presidential pre-election survey frontrunner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and his vice president, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, will hold their last rally across Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park in Manila at 3 p.m.

Sen. Grace Poe and Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero of Partido Galing at Puso will hold two grand rallies on Saturday.

Poe and Escudero, together with their senate slate, will be flying to Pangansinan for a rally in Urdaneta in the morning. They will return to Manila for a bigger rally in Plaza Miranda at 4 p.m.

Vice President Jejomar Binay and the United Nationalist Alliance slate will hold their miting de avance at Lawton in Makati at 2 p.m. Supporters are advised to pass through the Kalayaan Ave. entrance.

As for Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, her supporters will stage a grand caravan (6 a.m.) and the street party is expected to start at 7 p.m. at the West Fourth Street, West Triangle in Quezon City. Her camp said Santiago will greet her supporters at the rave party.

May 7 marks the end to the 90-day campaign period.

Expect heavy traffic

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) warned of heavy traffic in the streets surrounding the venues of rallies. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.
