Ronnie Dayan (L), Sen. Leila de Lima (R)

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — After admitting he and Senator Leila De Lima had a seven-year relationship, Ronnie Dayan divulged more details as to how they became lovers.

Dayan applied to be De Lima's driver and bodyguard in 2007 at her law office. After months of working together, they began an affair.

"Totoo pong nagkaroon kami ng relasyon ni ma'am at nagsimula po ito noon ding 2007. Mga two to three months pa lang ako sa law office niya," he said on Thursday during the reopened House probe on the proliferation of drugs inside the New Bilibid Prison.

Reading his sworn affidavit, Dayan said De Lima knew he was married to a Norly Magallanes Dayan at the time.

"Alam din po ni ma'am na may asawa po ako ng mga panahong iyon. Kasal na po ako since 1991," he said.

De Lima, prior to admitting her relationship with Dayan, said Dayan was already separated from his wife before she employed him.

He was the bodyguard and driver of De Lima when she became the chairperson of the Commission of Human Rights in 2008 and the Secretary of Justice in 2010.

Dayan also divulged they lived together when she became the Secretary of Justice.

"Mula noong 2010, noong nagsimula na si  Senadora Leila De Lima sa DOJ at lumipat na siya ng tirahan sa Parañaque, ay nagsimula na po kaming magsama," he said.

Dayan recalled the reason why they ended their seven-year relationship.

"Bago pumasok yung 2015, nagkalabuan na kami ni ma'am. Kesyo hindi na daw kami masaya sa pagsasama namin. Lagi kasing bangayan at laging nag-aaway kami," he said.

Dayan said when he found out De Lima's security aide Warren Cristobal was her new boyfriend, he said, "Parang nasampal ko siya ng bahagya. Sabi ko, 'Uubusin mo yata kaming mga security mo."

[Translation: I think I slapped her. I said, 'Do you plan to have an affair with all your security aides.]

Dayan added De Lima forced him to resign in February 2015 to "avoid conflict."

Disbarment case for 'illicit affair'

Dayan's admission could disbar the lady senator.

Last October, the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officials, and whistleblower Sandra Cam asked the Supreme Court to strip De Lima of her license to practise law on the grounds of gross immorality.

The complaint cited the senator's "illicit affair" with Dayan.

A copy of De Lima's alleged sex video was also attached to the complaint.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said the admission of their relationship also bolsters the illegal drug complaint against her filed by the National Bureau of Investigation.
