Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Policemen from the Special Action Force (SAF) will be part of the government's crackdown on misfits in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP chief Director General Police Director Ronald Dela Rosa said on Friday 77 members of the SAF headed by P/Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo will focus on ridding the PNP of rogue cops.
The SAF commandos will conduct tactical offensive against erring police officers, Dela Rosa said.
The administration has prioritized its campaign against police scalawags, taking the drug war to the backseat.
Dela Rosa said they cannot continue the drug war until their ranks are cleansed of police who are sabotaging the anti-illegal drugs operation.
This comes after the kidnap-slay of South Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo that involved police officers.
