Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) - Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte delivered a healthy baby boy Thursday.`

The child, named "Stonefish," weighs 2.42 kilos or 5.3 pounds, said Jefry Tupas, Mayor Duterte's public information officer. He was delivered through cesarean section, Tupas added.

"Thank you, Lord, for the gift of life," said the mayor's husband, lawyer Manases Carpio, in a statement.

In August, the First Daughter revealed she was pregnant with triplets-two identical twins and one fraternal twin.

However, she lost the identical twins in September, and only one baby in her womb was left with a heartbeat.

The miscarriage came as Duterte addressed the aftermath of a bomb blast by an alleged terror group in the Davao City night market which killed 14 people on September 2.

Mayor Duterte is "stable" and "generally fine," Carpio said.

Carpio and Duterte have two children: 7-year old Mikhaila Maria and 3-year old Matteo Lucas, nicknamed Sharky and Stingray.

The new addition brings to eight the number of grandchildren of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella extended the Palace's congratulations to Mayor Duterte and her newborn.

The arrival of the President's newest grandchild fortifies his resolve "to leave a legacy of a Philippines safe and secure from drugs and heinous crimes to future generation of Filipinos," Abella said.
