Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 2) — The Resorts World Manila management released on Friday afternoon the names of guests and employees who died when a gunman set fire to the casino area of the complex in the wee hours of the morning.

The management said 22 guests and 13 of its employees died.

The victims have been identified except for four guests and two employees.

Later in the evening, National Capital Region Police Office Chief Oscar Albayalde said there were 38 bodies recovered at the hotel, including the gunman. However, it was not mentioned whether the two additional victims were hotel guests or employees.

The wife of Pampanga Representative Dong Gonzales was among the fatalities in  the incident.

Southern Police District Director Tomas Apolinario said the 35 dead bodies were found in the second floor of the establishment, spread across the casino area, the hallways, and the bathroom. They died due to suffocation from smoke when the suspect burned carpets using the gasoline he brought with him, according to the scene of the crime operatives.

The lone gunman also died when he set himself on fire inside a hotel room, then shot himself in the head.

Apolinario said witnesses told the police the suspect did not harm them.
