Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 15) - An inverted presidential seal on the podium took center stage during President Rodrigo Duterte's speech on Friday.

The incident occurred at the 11th Ambassadors' Tour Philippine reception in Davao City, where Duterte acknowledged the help given by the United States and China for the Marawi crisis.

As the speech was broadcast on different platforms, the mistake was noticeable during the first few minutes, before the frame was zoomed in to crop out the upside down seal.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Saturday clarified the error in the installation of the seal, saying it was an act of omission.

"There was…no attempt to embarrass the President," Abella said, "A careful study determined the incident as an act of omission. Appropriate measures have been taken against those responsible."

He said that all parties involved in presidential visits and coverage have "instituted procedures to prevent the occurrence of a similar incident."

Abella added those concerned in the gaffe have sincerely apologized and renewed their commitment to support the President.
