Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 7) - Chocolate lovers can look forward to a new flavor to satisfy their sweet tooth.

Switzerland-based chocolate company Barry Callebaut launched in China on Tuesday the fourth type of chocolate, Ruby, which is pinkish red in color, and tastes like "berry-fruitiness and luscious smoothness."

No artificial flavor or coloring was added to the chocolate, which was made from Ruby cocoa bean, the company said.

The new chocolate has underwent "extensive consumer research run" under global research agencies based in the United Kingdom, United States, China, and Japan, it added.

"Consumer research in very different markets confirms that Ruby chocolate not only satisfies a new consumer need found among Millennials - Hedonistic Indulgence - but also high purchase intent at different price points.

This comes 80 years after white chocolate was introduced as the third type of chocolate next to dark and milk.
