Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 23) — The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws tamed the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, 78-65, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 at the Mall of Asia arena Saturday afternoon.

Arvin Tolentino and Ron Dennison paved the way for the Tamaraws with 15 points apiece.

The Growing Tigers outrebounded FEU, 10-3, in a gritty effort to build a five-point advantage at the end of the first quarter.

After being down by a double-digit deficit, FEU was able to weather the storm and trim the lead within striking distance going to the halftime break.

With their shots starting to fall in, the Tamaraws capitalized on the momentum to take the driver's seat for the first time at the latter part of the third frame.

FEU never looked back as they unleashed a 29-point rampage in the payoff period to notch their second win in the tournament.

Jeepy Faundo had 16 markers and 11 boards for UST who suffered its fourth straight setback.

The Tamaraws will next face the National University Bulldogs, while the Growling Tigers take on one of the league leaders Ateneo Blue Eagles on September 27 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
