Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 3) — A student activist and a beauty vlogger were the two Filipinos named in TIME's 30 Most Influential Teens of 2017.

The magazine said St. Scholastica's College Manila high-school student Shibby de Guzman, 14, made it to the list for speaking out against President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs.

"It's a risky move to speak out against Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, whose brutal war on drugs has left thousands dead," TIME said.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), anti-drug operations from July 1, 2016 to Sept. 26, 2017 resulted in the death of 3,906 drug personalities and the arrest of 113,932, adding that over 1.3 million have surrendered as of July 25, 2017.

The government reorganized its anti-drug campaign in October 2017, with Duterte giving the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency the lead role in anti-drug operations.

De Guzman made headlines when a viral photo showed her marching down the street carrying a megaphone to protest the burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on November 2016.

“He is qualified to be buried there. Kung ayaw ng ibang Pilipino, fine," Duterte said. "Mag-demonstrate kayo, go ahead. You can use the streets.”

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Internet star Bretman Rock, whose real name is Bretman Rock Sacayanan, made it to the list for his "larger-than-life personality."

The Hawaii-based beauty vlogger shot to fame for his makeup skills, which he shows off to his 9 million Instagram followers, 2.1 million YouTube subscribers and 1.5 million Twitter followers.

Rock was in the Philippines to host the Miss Universe 2017 red-carpet show in January 2017 alongside Miss Universe Philippines 2010 Venus Raj.
