Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) - The Prime Minister of Laos Thoungloun Sisoulith, left Manila Tuesday in the middle of the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits.

This was confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a message.

“The Prime Minister of Laos, we have been informed, has a state visit in Vientiane. This is the reason why he has to leave the Philippines early,” Roque said.

No other details were made available.

Sisoulith arrived at around 10.36 p.m. Sunday via Clark International Airport for the ASEAN meetings from November 11 to 14. He was welcomed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

The Prime Minister chaired ASEAN in 2015 before handing over the hosting job  to President Rodrigo Duterte the following year.
