Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 23) — A magnitude 4.3 earthquake jolted Quezon Province Thursday evening.

The earthquake struck 3 km from Calauag, Quezon at 8:02 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The quake was tectonic in origin, meaning there was a movement in the Earth's crust. It occurred at a depth of 21 kilometers.

According to Phivolcs, shaking is less felt when quakes have greater depth.

Intensity 5 was felt in Calauag and Guinayangan Quezon, approximately 160 km and 181 km away from Manila, respectively.
