Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 12) - The Chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has resigned, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Friday.

"Mr. Jose Jorge Elizalde Corpuz has resigned as Chairman and Member, Board of Directors, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office due to health reasons," Roque said in a statement.

He said Corpuz is not the official referred to by President Rodrigo Duterte whom he will fire for corrupt acts.

PCSO has been criticized for its supposed lavish Christmas party, which PCSO Director Sandra Cam claimed cost about ₱9 million.

The Senate will investigate the allegations against PCSO on January 17.
