Baguio City (CNN Philippines, March 18) — The valedictorian of the Philippine Military Academy's "Alab Tala" Class of 2018 not only graduated with honors, but also got a house and lot.

It was announced during the PMA's graduation rites Sunday that Cadet First Class Jaywardene Hontoria will receive a house and lot in Iloilo City.

This is the first time a PMA graduate is getting a real estate property for topping the class.

The house and lot is a fitting gift for the 25-year-old Hontoria, who will marry his girlfriend inside the PMA right after the graduation rites.

Hontoria, who hails from Iloilo, graduated with a nursing degree from the West Visayas State University before entering the PMA.

He will serve in the navy after graduation.

Aside from the house and lot, Hontoria received the Presidential Saber from President Rodrigo Duterte, as well as 10 other awards.
