Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 14) — Tropical depression Ester has entered the Philippine area of responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Thursday evening.

Tropical Cyclone Signal number 1 is still up over Batanes province north of Luzon. Ester is bringing occassional rains with gusty winds to Batanes..

Ester was last spotted 335 kilometers northwest of Basco town. It has winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour. It is moving east northeast at 15 kilometers per hour.

The state weather bureau warns that sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon.

Rains brought by the southwest monsoon (Habagat) continue to batter Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales and Bataan. Light to moderate with occasional heavy rain will occur in Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite and Batangas until weekend.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area east of Mindanao has now dissipated.
