Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 26) — Despite Tropical Depression Luis leaving the country, weather officials said moderate to heavy rains will continue to pour over some parts of Luzon.

Rains are expected over Zambales, Bataan, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes and the Babuyan Islands for the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Occasional moderate to heavy rains will batter Metro Manila, Cavite and Rizal.

Due to Luis enhancing the southwest monsoon (Habagat), some parts of Luzon have announced class suspensions.

The center of Luis was last spotted 680 kilometers north northwest of Basco, Batanes. It moved west at 10 kilometers (km) per hour towards the coast of Southeastern China.

Luis has maximum sustained winds of 40 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness up to 55 kph.

Meanwhile, PAGASA has been monitoring a low pressure area 910 km west northwest of Basco, Batanes.
