Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 31) — The wait is over, beach-goers.

The Department of Tourism released Friday a list of Boracay establishments that have complied with the required government permits.

This opens up a total of 2,063 rooms to tourists during the island's soft opening from October 15 to 26.

The establishments have been approved by the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force, having complied with the required permits from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Last week, DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu said that only a limited amount of local tourists will be allowed during the soft opening, prioritizing those from Aklan.

"The dry run will allow us to assess what else needs to be done before Boracay is opened to domestic and foreign tourists," he said.

Citing a study from the DENR and the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Cimatu said that the number of hotel rooms in Boracay have exceeded the island's visitor capacity.
