Metro Manila (CNN Phlippines, October 10) — Court of Appeals Justice Ramon Paul Hernando has been appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as associate justice of the Supreme Court.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed this on Wednesday.

The 52-year-old magistrate will fill the vacancy left by Samuel Martires, who was appointed Ombudsman.

Hernando is also a member of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law faculty.

He is the seventh appointee of Duterte to the high court since he became President in 2016.
