The Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge or the Rockwell Bridge is now closed for reconstruction.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 19) — The Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge or the Rockwell Bridge is now closed for reconstruction.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists that the bridge will be closed for 30 months, starting 4 a.m. of January 2019. It is expected to reopen in 2021.

The bridge connects Estrella Street in Makati and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong. An estimated 120,000 vehicles will be affected once repairs and widening begin.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said the two-lane bridge will have two more lanes. DPWH Engineer Virgilio Castillo said the Mandaluyong City government is funding the widening of the landing roads in the Pantaleon area.

Funded by China, the reconstruction of the bridge costs P1.4 billion.
